LOS ANGELES COUNTY — Thursday, October 22, 2026. A Flash Flood Warning issued at 11:24 a.m. Pacific by the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office identified an urgent hazard for portions of eastern Los Angeles County, including the central and southern Bridge Fire burn scar.
The NWS bulletin, valid until 2:00 p.m. Thursday unless updated, named San Dimas, Glendora, Pomona, La Verne and Claremont among areas potentially experiencing flash flooding. As this article is published after 2 p.m., readers must check later official warnings rather than assuming the original warning remained in force.
What forecasters said at 11:24 a.m.
Radar showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. The NWS estimated rainfall rates of 0.5 to 1.0 inch per hour and said flash flooding was ongoing or could begin shortly. It warned of rockslides, mudslides and minor debris flows, especially important in fire-damaged terrain.
Possible impacts included flooding in streams, roads, underpasses, urban drainage systems and low-lying areas. The warning was radar-based, not a confirmation that every listed city suffered property damage or that all streets were flooded.
Why burn scars are especially vulnerable
Wildfire removes vegetation and can change soil behavior. Intense rain may produce unusually rapid runoff and transport sediment or debris downslope. Communities below a burn scar should follow localized evacuation or shelter instructions from law enforcement and emergency management. An NWS warning alone is not an evacuation order.
How to check road conditions and newer alerts
Never cross a flooded intersection, wash or underpass. For current road closure information use Caltrans QuickMap, while the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard provides replacement alerts, updates and statements. Local emergency agencies publish any actual evacuation orders; do not infer them from a general storm warning.
What about power outages?
The NWS Flash Flood Warning does not provide a confirmed count of affected electric customers in San Dimas, Glendora, Pomona, La Verne or Claremont. California58 tracks verified electric-service incidents separately and will not merge this weather bulletin with unrelated outages in other California communities.
