HANFORD NEWS | 2026 LOCAL NEWS

A residential proposal in Hanford entered formal environmental scoping in July 2026. The Harvest Creek Residential Development Project, identified by State Clearinghouse number 2026070137, calls for up to 229 detached houses on approximately 31.6 acres near Fargo Avenue and 13th Avenue.

What the application describes

The California Environmental Quality Act filing says the homes would be individual two-story buildings, generally with three or four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, private driveways and two-car garages. The record describes approximately 19.75 acres specifically planned for residential uses, plus a proposed neighborhood park and supporting improvements.

Why the site needs extra approvals

The existing land use is described as Limited Agricultural–10. The application involves annexation, prezoning and site-plan actions, meaning the proposal is not simply the building of homes on parcels already approved for the intended density. Those steps require formal review and decisions by the relevant agencies.

What happened in the 2026 public review

Hanford issued the notice of preparation in early July; the state review period ran July 8 through August 12, with a virtual public scoping session July 22. The process collected questions for a future environmental impact report, including transportation, infrastructure, agricultural conversion, schools, drainage and biological resources.

What is not decided yet

An environmental scoping notice is not a completed EIR, building permit or construction start order. The state listing does not mean that 229 homes are already approved or available for purchase. Hanford News will follow the subsequent draft EIR and hearings, separating proposed capacity from actual project approvals.
