California58 maintains a practical directory of official California digital tools that can help residents and visitors receive alerts, check roads, prepare for emergencies and complete everyday tasks. The focus is on current government tools, not unofficial look-alikes.
Earthquake Warning California and MyShake
Earthquake Warning California, coordinated by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, uses statewide earthquake early-warning technology. MyShake can deliver earthquake warnings on supported devices when alert thresholds are met. Android Earthquake Alerts and Wireless Emergency Alerts are also part of the broader warning system.

Caltrans QuickMap
Caltrans QuickMap provides statewide traveler information including road cameras, CHP incidents, lane and full closures, chain controls, message signs and highway conditions. A mobile-friendly version is available directly from Caltrans.
AwareCA and Ready for Wildfire
CAL FIRE describes AwareCA as a mobile-first platform for accurate, time-stamped emergency information before, during and after disasters. CAL FIRE’s Ready for Wildfire resources also include firePLANNER, active incident information, defensible-space guidance, home-hardening information and evacuation preparation.
CA DMV Wallet and California mobile driver’s license
The older CA DMV Mobile App was discontinued in 2025. California’s current digital-ID program uses the CA DMV Wallet and supported digital wallets for the voluntary mobile driver’s license, or mDL. DMV says users should continue carrying their physical license or ID because acceptance is still limited.

Wireless Emergency Alerts and CalAlerts
Wireless Emergency Alerts can deliver urgent government messages to compatible phones for imminent threats and other emergencies. Local alert-registration systems can differ by county and city, so California58 will connect users to the correct local alert source as the directory expands.

California58 directory standard
California58 links to official government sources whenever possible, names the responsible agency, explains what the tool does and avoids presenting a discontinued or third-party product as a current state application.
