Our accessibility commitment

California58 is improving accessibility across the statewide website and its local newsroom pages, with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a development target. This is a goal, not a declaration that every page has already been audited or fully conforms. Accessibility review is ongoing, especially for forms, mobile navigation, contrast, embedded videos, maps and third-party services.

What we are working to support

Our development priorities include readable contrast and scalable text, visible keyboard focus, logical headings, descriptive link labels, accessible form errors and labels, text alternatives for editorial images, captions or transcripts when available, responsive layouts and support for screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.

Known limitations and external content

Some older material, third-party embeds, live maps, advertisements or social videos may have limitations that we cannot directly control. An automated Lighthouse or PageSpeed score—even a high one—is not a substitute for manual accessibility testing or confirmation with assistive-technology users.

Report an accessibility problem

Email california58com@gmail.com with the page URL, the task you could not complete, and any browser, device or assistive technology details you wish to share. Do not send sensitive personal information. We will review reported barriers and work toward a usable alternative when reasonably possible.
