PLACERVILLE, El Dorado County — October 15, 2026. Three of Placerville’s five City Council seats are up for election on November 3, 2026, with each newly elected member serving a full term ending in November 2030, according to the city’s official municipal-election page.

What offices are on the city ballot?

The City of Placerville’s November 2026 election notice identifies three City Council member positions, all for four-year terms. Placerville uses a council-manager system and the city council chooses the mayor and vice mayor from among its members. Thus, the city election for council seats is not a separate direct mayoral race.

City councilmembers are elected at large, meaning the seats are not described as separate numbered neighborhood council districts on the current municipal government explanation. Residents should nevertheless refer to the county’s official ballot before assuming which offices and local measures apply.

Who is qualified to run?

The city states that candidates must reside and be registered voters within incorporated Placerville, be at least 18 years of age and satisfy other applicable legal requirements. The ordinary nomination window opened July 13 and was extended to August 12, 2026, according to the city election page. The city provides a candidate nomination roster tracking nomination papers; receiving a candidate packet is not equivalent to a final certified candidacy.

California58 does not present a list of candidates without a verified final nomination record. Voters can consult the city roster and their El Dorado County Elections Department sample ballot for the definitive names.

Why should residents care about the three open seats?

A majority of Placerville’s five-member council is up for selection. Council decisions affect public spending, city services, streets, planning and local development. Rather than assuming each candidate’s position, residents can compare published statements, ask questions at forums and review public meeting materials on the city’s council information page.

Practical election information

Election Day is November 3, with California polling places open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The regular voter-registration deadline is October 19. Eligible residents who miss it can use the state’s conditional registration process at approved in-person voting locations; they should consult the elections department before traveling.
