SANGER, Fresno County — October 15, 2026. Sanger’s November 3 election includes a citywide mayoral contest and City Council elections affecting Districts 2 and 4. These city offices are separate from the California governor race and statewide propositions.
The mayor is elected across the city
The City of Sanger’s official mayor page identifies Mayor Frank Gonzalez and lists his term as expiring in November 2026. The mayor is an at-large office, meaning eligible voters anywhere inside incorporated Sanger can vote in that race. Incumbent status should not be confused with a certified complete candidate list.
A publicly available 2026 election guide based on candidate filing information identifies three reported mayoral candidates: Frank Gonzalez, Gavino Barrera and Victor Ruiz. For the official ballot spelling, candidate status and ballot order, use the Fresno County election office’s final sample ballot, rather than relying on a secondary compilation.
District 2 has its own City Council choice
City records show Dolores Melendez holds the District 2 council seat with a term ending November 2026. A separate council candidate comparison reports a contest involving Melendez and Hilda “Monique” Reyna. This race is for District 2 residents, not every Sanger voter.
District 4 is a different ballot contest
The official council district page lists Michael Montelongo as District 4’s representative, with a November 2026 term expiration. Public 2026 election comparisons identify Montelongo and Juan Alvarez-Tovar in the council contest. Only voters registered in District 4 should expect to see that district seat.
Why the city district map matters
According to Sanger City Council’s official description, the city has a mayor elected at large and four council districts. A voter can participate in the mayoral contest while having no council seat on the ballot in their own district this year. District lines, not proximity to a candidate’s business or neighborhood, determine which council race applies.
Residents can compare the public candidate comparison with the city’s records and then confirm the final list and all other elections through Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters.
Voting deadlines and other contests
California’s regular online voter-registration deadline is October 19. November 3 voting locations generally operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eligible voters missing the regular deadline may use conditional registration at authorized locations. For the governor, 14 statewide propositions and county/district races, read the Fresno County Election Guide and check your own official sample ballot.
