TRINITY CENTER, Trinity County — Visitors heading for Trinity Lake should not assume that a boat ramp is usable just because it appears on a map. The U.S. Forest Service warns that launching facilities can close or shift with reservoir water levels, debris and other hazards.

Which ramps serve this area?

The Forest Service’s Trinity and Lewiston lakes boat-ramp guide identifies both Trinity Center and Bowerman public ramps. Bowerman is located near the Alpine View recreation area northwest of Trinity Center. The guide explains that each ramp has different water-level operating limits, and some ramps may become unusable as the lake draws down.

Old posted fees are not current prices

The published guide contains a June 2024 revision date and a schedule of launch fees. Those amounts should not be treated as verified October 2026 prices. Visitors should consult the current forest recreation listing and facility operator before leaving home.

Why lake elevation matters

Trinity Lake water levels change with precipitation, reservoir operations and seasonal demand. A low-water period may expose rocks, lengthen the distance from parking to shore and eliminate usable launching depth even where the road to the ramp remains open.

Where to verify conditions

The Forest Service directs visitors to the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and its Weaverville Ranger Station for conditions. Follow current warnings about fire restrictions, shoreline closures, swimming and boating safety. A boat ramp is not a designated place for swimming or diving.

This reference guide does not certify either ramp as open today; lake and site status must be checked for the exact date of travel.
