BLYTHE NEWS | LOCAL REPORTING · 2026

Interstate 10 remains an important construction corridor in and around Blythe in 2026. Caltrans’ official project overview details a $241 million package of pavement rehabilitation, safety upgrades and accessibility improvements, with substantial traffic management affecting daily trips and interstate freight.

What the project covers

The agency describes rehabilitation of 88 lane-miles of concrete pavement, plus work on ramps and shoulders. Planned improvements also include roughly 11,950 feet of guardrail, bridge work, signs, landscaping and a beautification monument. Accessibility upgrades cover curb ramps, sidewalks, crossings and push-button equipment.

How motorists were affected in 2026

Caltrans’ published work notice described traffic reductions and crossover operations between Lovekin Boulevard and Seventh Street during parts of the summer, as well as temporary controls near Wiley’s Well Road. Those date-specific restrictions were attached to the earlier construction period; do not treat them as necessarily active in October without checking current notices.

What the expected finish means

The state project page says construction is expected to finish in winter 2026. That is a forecast, not proof that the whole project is already complete. A final completion announcement and project closeout documentation would establish what was delivered and whether remaining work continues.

Why local residents should pay attention

Blythe sits on a corridor serving travelers and commercial traffic moving between California and Arizona. Lane restrictions affect trip times, deliveries, local access and emergency-response planning. Drivers should follow current signs and Caltrans advisories rather than relying on outdated detour instructions.
