Bonny Doon News: Elementary School Plans Classroom, Fire Alarm and Accessibility Upgrades in 2026

BONNY DOON NEWS | SCHOOL FACILITIES · 2026 — The Bonny Doon Union Elementary School District filed an environmental notice April 16, 2026 for improvements at 1492 Pine Flat Road. The proposal includes classroom modernization, accessibility improvements, safer campus systems and athletic facilities.

Modernizing existing classroom space

The official document identifies approximately 23,700 square feet of existing classroom buildings for modernization. Fire alarm upgrades would extend across the campus, together with electrical service changes. These improvements concern existing school buildings rather than construction of a new school or an announced expansion in enrollment.

Safer routes and recreation areas

The district plans an accessible path of travel through the campus and an additional accessible ramp connecting to the existing playground. Plans also include improvements to the running track and softball field and reconfiguration of parking areas. The scale and final use of every facility will depend on construction documents and implementation.

What residents should know

The April 2026 CEQA notice identifies a proposed sitework and modernization project. It is not a certificate that the work has been completed or that every sports facility is currently accessible.
