ESCALON NEWS | LOCAL PUBLIC-INTEREST NEWS · OCTOBER 2026
A renewable-energy application in the unincorporated area near Escalon entered California environmental review on April 16, 2026. San Joaquin County documented a proposal for a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic installation producing approximately 4,043.52 kilowatts of direct-current nameplate capacity.
What the project documents say
The planned array would occupy around 14.47 acres within a 39.65-acre parcel located near South Due Road and East Lone Tree Road. The property is subject to a Williamson Act contract, an important consideration for how agricultural land is used. The application describes access through an existing driveway and a proposed fire-access route, while relying on existing private water, stormwater and septic systems.
Why this matters to local residents
The project raises questions about agricultural land, fire access, transmission connections and how utility-scale solar equipment would be placed. The April filing was a Mitigated Negative Declaration under review through May 15; it does not establish that a final county permit has issued or that the installation is generating electricity.
What happens next
Escalon News will examine later San Joaquin County permit decisions, conditions addressing agriculture and construction, and eventual interconnection milestones. Residents can use county conditional use permit PA-2600014 to request project documents.
