Los Molinos Library: October Programs, Two-Day Schedule and a County Cooling-Zone Resource

LOS MOLINOS, Tehama County — The Los Molinos branch of the Tehama County Library provides an important local service for residents seeking books, children’s activities and public information.

Hours and address

The library’s official page lists the branch at 7881 State Highway 99E, with public hours on Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. and 2–5 p.m. The telephone is 530-384-2772. The branch has a midday closure, so a visit scheduled for 1:30 p.m. would fall outside the posted hours.

October family events

The county library’s October 2026 calendar lists Los Molinos Story Time on October 13 and again on October 20. It also listed a seasonal Ghostbusters-themed slime activity on October 15. Visitors should confirm availability or registration before going, and should not assume an event from an earlier date is still running.

A possible refuge on hot days

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office emergency information describes the library as one of the county’s daytime cooling zones during its regular hours, even when a formal emergency cooling center has not been activated. The county specifically warns these locations may not supply water or meals.

The distinction matters: a cooling zone is not an overnight shelter or a dedicated medical facility. During a heat emergency, residents should verify current hours and conditions before traveling.

For October library activities, use the official event calendar rather than an undated social-media flyer. People needing extended library hours can also consult the Red Bluff and Corning branches, whose schedules differ.
