LOYALTON, Sierra County — Voters who used to take ballots to the Loyalton City Hall Auditorium need to know about a location change for the November 3, 2026 election. Sierra County’s official public notices say the ballot drop box is now at Sierraville School, 305 South Lincoln Street, Sierraville.
What the county announced
The Sierra County government news page says the relocation follows legislative changes under SB 884. The drop box is scheduled to be available from October 5 through Election Day, November 3. The county specifically identifies the old location as Loyalton City Hall Auditorium, so residents should not assume the same box remains there.
What about other ways of voting?
The relocation notice concerns one drop-box location; it does not mean mail voting, county election office services, or in-person polling options have been cancelled. For a complete list of current voting methods, deadlines and voter assistance, use the county elections information rather than a social-media map. Residents should check official instructions about when boxes close on election day.
Another resource in Loyalton
The county’s library list says the Loyalton Library, at 511 Main Street, operates Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. The library provides public internet and computer access as well as reading materials. Its schedule can change for holidays or emergencies.
Why this matters: a trip to an old election drop-box address could waste time for a voter with limited transportation. Verify the current official location before leaving home, and separate election information from campaign endorsements.
