PATTERSON, Stanislaus County — October 15, 2026. Three municipal offices are scheduled for Patterson’s November 3 general election: Mayor, City Council District B and City Council District D. The City Clerk’s public election notice lists the terms separately: two years for mayor and four years for each council seat.

The mayor’s election is citywide; council races are not

All eligible Patterson city voters may select a mayor, who is elected at large. But City Council members are elected only by registered voters living in their respective districts. This means someone living in District A or C should not automatically expect a District B or D council contest on their sample ballot. A city district-boundary map is available through the clerk’s election page.

Why do the term lengths differ?

Under Patterson’s council-manager form of government, a mayor serves a two-year term and district councilmembers serve four-year terms. The different cycles mean that even if a voter participates in the same November election for mayor and council, the next scheduled regular election for those offices will not necessarily happen together.

Where can residents check final nominees?

The city publishes a Final Nomination List, candidate notices and a 2026 election calendar under its official Election Information section. Although the municipal notice establishes which positions are on the ballot, it does not by itself prove which prospective candidates qualified. Avoid treating an incumbent’s name or a person who obtained nomination paperwork as a certified candidate without consulting the final list.

The city’s election administrator works with Stanislaus County on vote centers, ballot return and counting. The county’s Registrar of Voters is the source for a voter-specific sample ballot and polling arrangements.

What about sales-tax measures and other local questions?

A June 2026 archived city notice described a proposed local public-safety and city-services sales-tax question. Because such municipal measures can be amended or withdrawn during the qualification process, **do not assume a measure will appear without checking the final certified November ballot**. The live city election page and county’s official measure list take precedence over an archived notice.
