WEST LINDA, Calif. — Yuba County’s Friendship Park art contest for students has passed its October 23 submission deadline, and the county expects to announce winning entries in early November 2026.

What students were invited to create

According to the official contest page, the competition was open to students attending Linda or Olivehurst schools from transitional kindergarten through grade 12. Entrants were asked to create original two-dimensional work around two themes: keeping Friendship Park clean and welcoming, or imagining a day at the improved park.

Separate award categories cover TK–2, grades 3–5, grades 6–8 and grades 9–12. The county listed new bicycles for first-place winners and additional prizes for other recognized artists. Selected work is intended to be displayed in a kiosk at Friendship Park, featured on county social media and recognized at the planned summer 2027 ribbon-cutting.

What happens next

The contest entry window has closed, so families should not assume submissions are still being accepted. The county page is the place to check subsequent winner announcements. An expected announcement date does not establish that winners have already been selected.

The contest is connected to a wider effort to transform public space in West Linda and foster local participation in its design and upkeep.
