Modoc County has a confirmed October 30 Safe Trick or Treat program on a local early-childhood agency’s official calendar. The small county’s event selection is limited, and we will not invent additional Halloween festivals to inflate a top-ten list.

Updated October 11, 2026. Confirm organizer announcements for last-minute changes and do not confuse seasonal fall visits with guaranteed Halloween-night festivities.

3. Cedarville First Fridays — earlier family outing

Date: October 2, 2026
Time: 5–9 p.m.

Travel and safety tips

Call the local organizer before setting out, because long drives and sparse services make incorrect event details costly. Choose an age-appropriate costume that keeps children warm: nighttime temperatures may be low in Alturas.

Verify event dates, entry fees, parking and age restrictions. For remote counties, also check weather, road closures and fuel availability before departure. Do not rely on previous years’ schedules as proof of a 2026 event.
