SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. The county elections office has published a final unofficial Election Night summary showing 366,322 ballots cast out of 1,249,278 registered voters, a reported first-round turnout of 29.32%. The same report lists all 2,066 of 2,066 precincts reporting (100%). That does not mean the county has counted all eligible mail and other ballots. The Registrar of Voters has posted the next count update for Thursday, November 5, by 6 p.m. Pacific.

What the last election-night report actually contains

On the San Bernardino County Registrar’s official result page, Summary Report #5 includes 282,137 mail ballots and 84,185 polling-place ballots in the reported participating electorate. Those categories total 366,322 ballots. The reported 29.32% participation figure is a snapshot, not a final turnout rate, because additional eligible ballots can still be counted during the official canvass.

Statewide governor vote, county portion

For governor, the county’s reported valid candidate votes show Xavier Becerra (Democrat) with 210,512 (57.95%) and Steve Hilton (Republican) with 152,744 (42.05%). These 363,256 valid votes for governor are fewer than the 366,322 ballots in the initial turnout count because not every ballot necessarily contained a valid selection in that race. Becerra’s statewide AP projection is a separate outcome, based on returns from all California counties, and his county figures must not be added a second time to the statewide total.

Why “100% of precincts” is not “100% of votes”

The statement that every precinct has reported means the election office has received reporting from all precincts in its initial election-night tabulation. It does not demonstrate that all mail ballots dropped off late on November 3 have undergone signature checks, nor does it include every valid provisional ballot. California officials continue processing mail ballots postmarked by Election Day and received within the legal period, along with provisional and conditional-registration votes. Any editor turning precinct completion into a certified win is misleading readers.

San Bernardino City: council seats remain pending

California58 already has district-specific reports on Ward 1, Ward 2 and Ward 4. Some earlier batches had candidate margins of fewer than 200 votes. These neighborhoods are distinct council districts; one citywide ballot total does not determine how many votes remain in an individual ward. Later official counts can alter the margins.

Other county cities and special districts

In Victorville, council district races are reported separately from neighboring Adelanto and Needles, which had local tax measures. Victorville’s Districts 2 and 4, Adelanto Measure P, and Needles Measure K each have their own local voting population. Their returns must not be pooled as one countywide municipal election.

Trona and Searles Valley: cross-county school board

The Trona Joint Unified School District presents a particularly important geographic caution. The district spans San Bernardino and Inyo counties. California58 has reported the San Bernardino County portion of the school-board election, but the districtwide final result must combine legally eligible votes reported by both counties at compatible times. Residents should not infer that the local winner can be declared from one county’s partial figures alone.

When the next update is due

The Registrar’s official election dashboard currently lists the next result publication for November 5 by 6 p.m.. This article is written ahead of that scheduled deadline and uses Summary Report #5, not unverified new numbers. California’s county canvass deadline is December 3 and statewide certification December 11. Local audiences can use the official county results portal to check whether the next report has appeared.
