BRENTWOOD NEWS | 2026 COMMUNITY REPORTING
A citywide speed-limit update announced June 11, 2026, changes posted limits along multiple Brentwood corridors. The city based its action on recent engineering and traffic surveys performed under state requirements and said new signs would be installed in the following weeks.
Lone Tree Way and school access
The city lists a reduction from 45 mph to 35 mph on Lone Tree Way between Empire Avenue and Fair View Avenue, and again between Fair View Avenue and O’Hara Avenue. This ten-mile-per-hour change applies to the listed segments rather than all of Lone Tree Way. Drivers must still follow posted road signs and temporary traffic-control instructions.
Brentwood Boulevard changes
Between Delta Road and Havenwood Avenue, the city lists a change from 40 mph to 35 mph. Other portions shift from 35 to 30 mph or 40 to 35 mph, while the southern segment between Valdry Court and the city limit is listed to drop from 55 mph to 45 mph. Motorists should not generalize one limit to the entire corridor.
Additional roads on the list
O’Hara Avenue between Sand Creek Road and Central Boulevard changes from 35 to 30 mph, and Walnut Boulevard between Oak Street and Balfour Road likewise shifts from 35 to 30 mph. Sand Creek Road includes a section dropping from 45 to 40 mph and a previously unposted 35-mph segment between Heidorn Ranch Road and the Highway 4 northbound ramps.
What residents can check
A published city chart establishes intended changes, while an individual driver needs to observe signs actually in place. Residents interested in road design and enforcement can request the engineering and traffic surveys used in the decision. Brentwood News will separate the official June adoption from later sign-installation updates.
