TRINITY COUNTY, California — Updated October 14, 2026. California’s general election on November 3 includes races shared across the state as well as congressional, legislative, county and other local contests that depend on a resident’s exact district. This Trinity County guide separates verified statewide information from address-specific local ballot questions.
Governor and statewide candidates
The top-two race for California governor is between Xavier Becerra (Democratic) and Steve Hilton (Republican). Other statewide contests:
- Lieutenant Governor: Fiona Ma (D) vs. Gloria Romero (R).
- Secretary of State: Shirley N. Weber (D) vs. Don Wagner (R).
- Controller: Malia M. Cohen (D) vs. Herb W Morgan (R).
- Treasurer: Eleni Kounalakis (D) vs. Jennifer Hawks (R).
- Attorney General: Rob Bonta (D) vs. Michael E. Gates (R).
- Insurance Commissioner: Ben Allen (D) vs. Jane Kim (D).
- Superintendent of Public Instruction (nonpartisan): Richard Barrera vs. Sonja Shaw.
The four-district California State Board of Equalization also has an election. The candidates depend on a voter’s assigned BOE district. State candidate statements and district information are published by the Secretary of State.
U.S. House, State Assembly and State Senate
Voters also have races for their assigned U.S. House and California State Assembly districts. Regular State Senate races in 2026 are held in the even-numbered State Senate districts. Countywide summaries cannot correctly assign specific House, Assembly or Senate candidates to every address in Trinity County. Additional county offices, city councils, school boards, special districts and local measures may apply to some residents but not others.
Statewide ballot measures: all 14
California voters face 14 statewide propositions. The following are short subject labels; the official voter information guide provides precise text, impartial analysis and fiscal effects:

What Trinity County readers should look at locally
In Weaverville and Hayfork, questions for local candidates include forest roads, fire response and access to health care. These are issues to examine, not claims that a particular local ballot measure concerns those topics. Residents of two cities in the same county may have different city, school and district contests. For definitive ballot candidates, county measures and the full local voter guide, consult the official Trinity County elections office and its address-specific ballot information.
