Independent local reporting matters—especially in smaller California towns. California58 is developing a network of community newspapers covering all 58 counties, with particular attention to rural areas and communities that receive limited regular news coverage.
What your support helps fund
Reporting on local government decisions, water, roads, public safety, schools, health access, agriculture and community events takes time. Contributions can help cover document requests, reporting trips, photography, publishing infrastructure and ongoing corrections and updates.

California58 is one publishing network, but each local edition has its own name, coverage area, stories and community contacts. If you want to help a particular community, open its newspaper and choose Support [Newspaper Name] rather than using only the statewide support link.

Find your newspaper: Browse all available California58 Local editions →. On each newspaper page, the named support panel leads to the publisher’s payment methods. Stripe card payments carry a reference identifying the selected edition; PayPal and Zelle supporters can include the newspaper name in the payment note. Payments go through shared publishing accounts rather than separate local organizations. Contributions support the publishing project and are not represented as tax-deductible or legally restricted gifts.

Monthly support: a recurring Stripe checkout is being prepared. There is currently no verified live monthly subscription link. Ask the publisher about monthly support ↗; this email does not activate any charges. An actual subscription button will appear after live checkout, billing frequency and cancellation instructions are verified.

Editorial independence
Financial contributions do not purchase favorable reporting, control over story selection or advance access to unpublished material. We aim to distinguish advertising and sponsored messages from editorial coverage, and to correct material factual errors transparently.
