Effective: October 28, 2026. California58.com is an independent California news and information network spanning statewide coverage, county newspapers and local community editions. Advertising and partner programs can help support our editorial work, but they are different from independent reporting.
Advertising and sponsored placements
Paid display advertising, sponsored articles, sponsored listings, paid partnerships and other promotional placements should be identified in language understandable to readers, such as Advertisement, Sponsored or Paid Partnership, depending on the format. A paid placement is not presented as an independent investigative finding. Sponsorship does not guarantee favorable editorial coverage or preferential treatment in factual corrections.
Affiliate and referral links
Some links to products, travel services, subscriptions, businesses, stores or partner offers may be affiliate or referral links. If a visitor purchases or completes a qualifying action after following such a link, California58 or an affiliated project may receive a commission or referral payment. This may happen at no additional cost to the visitor, but prices, availability, cancellations, eligibility and partner policies must always be checked with the provider. Not every link is affiliated, and we do not claim an active commercial agreement with every business or service we mention.
When a particular article or comparison includes material commission arrangements or gifts relevant to its recommendations, the relationship should be disclosed near that content, not only on this general page. Readers can also ask for clarification about a specific link.
Google AdSense and other ad technology
California58 is preparing or may use automated advertising services, including Google AdSense, subject to account and site approval. The presence of an AdSense verification script does not prove that Google has approved advertising on this website or that ads are currently generating revenue. If enabled, ad networks may use cookies or other technologies governed by our Privacy Policy and applicable consent requirements.
Our editorial independence
Editors choose news topics and evaluate public claims using evidence, public documents and fairness standards. Advertising purchases do not buy the ability to suppress a report, change a factual finding or obtain an undisclosed endorsement. Editorial correction requests are reviewed under our Editorial Standards and Sources & Corrections.
