DAGGETT, San Bernardino County — October 23, 2026. Residents interested in historic preservation, local cleanliness and public gathering places can find an official starting point in the county’s Daggett Community Action Guide.
The guide grew from a community workshop held on January 24, 2017. It documents how participating residents, property owners and business owners discussed local values and longer-term needs. The document is a record of proposed actions; it should not be read as a report that all of those actions have been completed.
Three areas for local follow-up
Historic sites and Route 66. The county describes preservation of historic buildings and local heritage as community priorities. Suggested steps include identifying significant sites, coordinating historical research and considering ways to share that history with visitors.
Cleanup and appearance. The plan discusses trash pickup, litter and illegal-dumping cleanup, property maintenance and improving the streetscape. The guide does not by itself establish that particular cleanup events are scheduled today.
Community spaces and events. Proposed actions address public gathering opportunities, local events, library-related resources and partnerships. Individual proposals need separate confirmation of present-day staffing, schedules, budgets and approvals.
How to verify whether a proposal moved forward
The most useful follow-up questions are which agency is responsible, whether a public hearing occurred, whether financing was authorized and whether a completed project can be documented. Current records from the county, public-service districts and other relevant agencies should take precedence over the original workshop recommendations.
Daggett News will follow verified local developments and welcomes event notices, historical records and corrections. Related reporting is available from Barstow News.
