MADERA COUNTY, Calif. — Construction has begun on a new fire station in the Riverstone area, a project designed to improve emergency response for growing communities near Road 40 and Avenue 12.

What the project includes

Local coverage of the October 2026 groundbreaking by The Madera Tribune and ABC30 describes Fire Station 6 as an approximately 9,000-square-foot facility with space for three fire engines. County and CAL FIRE leaders emphasized additional coverage for Riverstone, Madera Ranchos and nearby areas.

The reporting identifies development impact fees as a funding source and describes plans for firefighter sleeping areas, apparatus bays and facilities intended to reduce harmful exposure to contaminants. The estimated project cost was reported at $11.5 million.
