MARIN COUNTY, California — Friday, October 30, 2026. Marin County’s 2026 Halloween schedule offers a choice between a waterfront community parade in Sausalito and a downtown gathering in Fairfax. Both organizers have published concrete Saturday times and locations, so families can make plans without relying on outdated Halloween calendars.

Where to celebrate on Saturday, October 31

Sausalito Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat Lane

When: Saturday, Oct. 31: lineup 5:45 p.m., parade 6 p.m.; dog contest 6:30 p.m.. Where: Firehouse at Johnson and Caledonia streets; Robin Sweeny Park, Sausalito.

Children’s parade, candy station, carved pumpkin contest and free dog costume contest. Caledonia Street is closed to traffic from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Check the original organizer listing.

Fairfax Halloween Parade and Haunted Grove

When: Saturday, Oct. 31, starting 5 p.m.; evening event to 9 p.m.. Where: Fairfax Movie Theater, downtown Fairfax; Bolinas Park.

Free parade, downtown trick-or-treating and a Haunted Grove costume contest with youth and family categories. Check the original organizer listing.

Fairfax Día de los Muertos remembrance

When: Friday, Oct. 30–Sunday, Nov. 1; confirm Sunday gathering schedule. Where: Bolinas Park, Fairfax.

A community ofrenda is planned for the weekend, with a shared remembrance gathering on Sunday. Check the original organizer listing.

A practical Saturday itinerary

Sausalito and Fairfax are different towns with overlapping 5–6 p.m. starts; they are alternatives, not two events to attend from beginning to end on the same night. Sausalito visitors should use the city’s published closures when choosing parking. Keep dogs leashed at crowded festivals and confirm any costume-contest signup instructions.

Another local consideration

Families seeking Saturday daytime entertainment can also look at participating Novato and Larkspur businesses, but check the organizers’ current schedules first. These options have a different tone from the big West Hollywood adult street party. Verify details here.

Before you leave

Schedules may change because of weather, staffing, capacity or other restrictions. Check the linked organizer’s current announcement, admission policies and any street closures before traveling. Children should carry emergency contact details; families should remain together in crowds and use marked crossings. A listed Día de Muertos observance is a remembrance tradition with its own cultural meaning, not simply another Halloween costume party.
