MODOC COUNTY, California — November 6, 2026. Modoc County voters showed a strong early preference for Republican Robin Littau in the election for the U.S. House of Representatives in California’s District 2. Modoc’s county subtotal lists Littau with 1,657 votes (69.4%) against Democratic incumbent Jared Huffman’s 731 (30.6%), a 926-vote Littau lead in this part of the constituency. The congressional race tracker dates Modoc’s source update to 10:01 p.m. November 3. Nothing here constitutes certification.
A different result across the entire House district
The complete congressional district contains voters from nine different counties or county portions. In the tracker available with a November 4 at 12:50 a.m. overall cutoff, Huffman has 105,508 votes (68.3%) and Littau has 49,069 (31.7%). Those districtwide figures have a different geographic denominator and reporting cutoff than Modoc’s local 2,388 valid votes. It would be a significant reporting error to say Littau led the entire House district just because he was ahead in Modoc.
Other North State counties may show opposite preferences
The same by-county source has Littau ahead in Siskiyou, Shasta and Del Norte county portions, while Huffman holds substantial leads in Marin, Humboldt, Sonoma and the tracked portion of Mendocino. In neighboring Trinity County, the local House result was particularly close: Huffman 1,374 to Littau 1,347. Each county subtotal contributes once to the combined House race, and the reported totals should not be added again to the overall district figure.
Why voting geography matters
Under the congressional district lines applicable to the 2026 election, Modoc voters participate in District 2, while their school, county and community-service district ballots depend on much more local boundaries. A U.S. representative makes federal legislative decisions and cannot independently serve as a mayor, county supervisor or local school trustee. A county preference in a federal election does not determine support for candidates in those other offices.
Follow the official vote count
The The Ballot Book by-county record gives the candidate names and individual reporting timestamps. County election administrators continue verifying eligible ballots and finalizing their canvasses; the Secretary of State publishes official districtwide results.
