Recent Monterey County Sheriff’s reports
Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Daily Patrol Log →
The Sheriff’s public log shows up to the latest three days of patrol records and is available during hours stated on the agency’s page. The log may temporarily show no records. Because it is not a certified, complete seven-day crime dataset, California58 will not turn it into invented weekly totals for theft, vandalism, burglary, robbery or homicide.
Which agency covers your area?
The Sheriff’s Office operates Central, Coastal and South County patrol stations. The official patrol-division directory identifies Coastal Station as covering unincorporated areas around Pebble Beach, Carmel Valley and Big Sur; Central serves much of North County; and South County covers areas near and south of Gonzales. Within incorporated city limits, departments such as Salinas Police or Monterey Police may hold the crime reports. The Sheriff’s official records guidance confirms that the agency holds only reports investigated by its own officers and directs city records requests to the relevant city department.

Current weekly incident totals
Status: Not yet available from a verified complete seven-day countywide feed. There is currently no confirmed, free, uniform weekly public dataset covering every incorporated city and every unincorporated Monterey County community with comparable incident definitions. The Sheriff’s short daily log is not equivalent to such a dataset. We will show dated weekly counts only for specific police areas where the responsible agency releases complete or clearly qualified data. A missing number means unavailable, not zero.
Where to request official aggregate statistics
Monterey County Sheriff’s Office offers an online Public Records Act request portal for statistical and administrative records. An appropriate request could ask for anonymized weekly totals of reportable offenses for defined unincorporated patrol zones, explicitly specifying occurrence date, offense type, jurisdiction and revised/cancelled reports. The official portal warns that actual incident or crime report copies must be obtained through different procedures, and that city police data belong to city departments.
Safety contacts
Emergency: 911. The Sheriff contact directory lists non-emergency phone numbers for Salinas, Monterey and King City service areas. Please verify the appropriate agency for the physical location and do not send an urgent crime report to California58 as a substitute for emergency help.
Methodology, corrections and privacy
California58 counts only documented published incidents under the categories and dates defined by their actual source. We do not invent neighborhood statistics, infer exact private residences from generalized public-map pins, list sensitive victims, or present police allegations as findings of guilt. This is a free public-interest directory; it is not affiliated with law enforcement. See the statewide crime-data guide.
