RIVERSIDE COUNTY — October 26, 2026. The state has approved $16.2 million in Homekey+ funding for Camino Terrace, an 80-unit affordable-housing development in Riverside County, according to an October 26 announcement. The funding is described as a piece needed to close the project’s financing gap, not as the entire cost of building the community.

California officials say 35 apartments are designated for eligible Homekey+ tenants, and 28 of those are earmarked for qualifying veterans. This is an important distinction: the announcement does not say all 80 apartments are reserved under the Homekey+ program.

The local development partnership

Riverside County is working with Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation on the award. Homekey+ emphasizes permanent supportive housing for people with behavioral health needs who have experienced homelessness. A housing-development grant does not automatically establish tenant referral rules, local waiting lists or the date on which a finished apartment will be ready.

The state’s release does not give a street address in this funding item. Accordingly California58 is filing the story as Riverside County news rather than attributing construction to the city of Riverside or another specific community without evidence.
