SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. The San Bernardino County Library system is marking Family Literacy Month, November 1–30, 2026, with a countywide reading incentive designed to encourage families to borrow books and other eligible library materials.

How to enter the drawing

According to the county’s November 5 community bulletin, people who check out 30 items at any San Bernardino County Library branch during the promotional period may present their checkout receipt to library staff to receive an entry in the Family Fun Basket Giveaway. Entrants choose which of four themed baskets they want an opportunity to win.

A checkout of the required number of items is not a guarantee of winning. Residents should ask staff about detailed promotion rules, eligible items, borrowing limits and how a receipt should be presented. The announcement does not establish that downloaded or separately purchased materials count as checkouts for the promotion.

The four basket themes

The county identifies Once Upon an Adventure, based on fantasy and story exploration; Dreamy Reads, combining bedtime books and cozy activities; Ready, Set, Game!, which includes game-oriented activities; and Passport to Reading, featuring travel and world-exploration themes. Each basket combines reading materials with games, activities or other family supplies.

What about rural readers?

The promotion is described as available at the county library’s branches, so people in outlying communities should check the opening hours of their nearest participating branch and whether the promotional process is available at that location. Do not travel without confirming a branch’s hours, especially around Veterans Day and Thanksgiving holiday closures.

The library’s official contact number is 909-387-2220. For branch information, visit San Bernardino County Library.
