SAN DIEGO COUNTY — Drivers across several parts of the San Diego area should plan ahead for nighttime freeway connector closures scheduled during the October 26–29 week, according to Caltrans District 11 announcements published October 20–23. These are work windows announced in advance and may change because of weather or construction conditions.

What it means for residents

Caltrans lists the westbound State Route 94 connector to northbound Interstate 5 for closure during portions of the October 25–29 period, generally from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Some connectors from eastbound SR-94 toward northbound SR-15 and I-805 also have overnight work on October 25–26. A separate October 22 announcement lists the northbound I-805 connector to northbound SR-15 for October 26 and 27 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

What happens next

The agency also lists eastbound SR-78 full evening closures at South Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos for October 26 and 27 and a later SR-905/I-5 connector closure scheduled October 29. These locations are different and should not be confused with a shutdown of an entire interstate.

Commuters, logistics operators and overnight workers should check live road conditions just before traveling. Use Caltrans QuickMap, follow posted detours and never assume an announced work closure will remain unchanged throughout the night.
