SEARLES VALLEY — A gasoline price sign reported at Kwik Serv on Trona Road on October 17, 2026, has residents asking whether filling up locally could cost less than their usual trip to Ridgecrest. The prices supplied to Searles Valley News were $5.69 per gallon for regular paid in cash and $5.79 with a card.
Residents’ observations relayed to this newspaper describe the prices as lower than what they were accustomed to seeing in neighboring Ridgecrest, where they often go to fill up. A same-day, station-by-station comparison has not been independently completed. This report does not establish that Kwik Serv is the cheapest station in either community.
What the reported sign showed
- Regular, cash: $5.69 per gallon.
- Regular, card: $5.79 per gallon.
- Observation date: October 17, 2026. These are reported sign prices, not a live price feed.
The reported cash/card difference is 10 cents per gallon: $1.50 on 15 gallons or $2 on 20 gallons. Those figures compare payment methods at this station; they are not a calculation of savings over Ridgecrest.
Could it bring more drivers into the valley?
The local account supplied to Searles Valley News also described residents’ concern that an attractive price could draw additional motorists from Ridgecrest and visitors passing through the area. That is a concern about what might happen, not evidence of an influx, queues or a shortage. No increase in traffic has been established for this report.
Before making a special journey, compare the same fuel grade and payment method, confirm the current pump price, and include the fuel used on the round trip. A lower posted gallon price does not automatically make a separate drive worthwhile.
