SONOMA COUNTY — November 4, 2026. Countywide Measure H, a proposed continuation of a one-eighth-cent sales tax for parks, was drawing support above the required two-thirds threshold in the first election-night returns. KQED’s Sonoma County results showed 69,853 yes votes (76.7%) against 21,214 no votes (23.2%) in a preliminary reporting snapshot.
What Measure H would fund
The official measure description says it would continue a one-eighth-cent transactions and use tax for county parks until voters end it, with an estimated annual revenue of approximately $15.5 million. The proposed tax includes community oversight, public reporting and audits, according to the ballot description republished in the Press Democrat election-result guide.
What the two-thirds requirement means
The measure requires approval by two-thirds of voters. Its early share was higher than that threshold, but a preliminary lead is not the same as an officially approved or implemented tax. Valid ballots will continue to be counted before the election is certified.
Countywide, not a single-city question
The measure is a Sonoma County-wide election and should not be labeled as a tax decision made only by Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol or another city. Residents throughout the county can follow the official county count to understand the results.
