STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. — Readers in Modesto and Keyes should take note of separate library renovation schedules published by the Stanislaus County Library system, which also offers alternative locations and services while the branches are affected.

Modesto reopening target

The library’s main website says the Modesto Library is expected to reopen in early January 2027, with its first full day of operations set for Monday, January 11, 2027. The library says details of a reopening celebration and ribbon-cutting will be announced later.

In the meantime, the system lists a Modesto Express Library at 1002 10th Street. Its published services include library-card registration, pickup of holds, material returns, printing, scanning and access to a smaller collection.

Keyes branch renovation

On its hours and locations page, the county library says the Keyes Community Center, which houses the Keyes Library, is temporarily closed for infrastructure work and expansion of library space. The branch is anticipated to reopen in December 2026, although that is a projected timeline rather than a guarantee. Nearby alternatives identified by the library include Ceres, Denair, Hughson and Turlock.

The system offers books, electronic materials, computer access and programs at its locations, but availability varies by branch. Check current hours and closures before visiting. The library’s general telephone number is 209-558-7800.
