INYO COUNTY, Calif. — An October 22 update to Inyo County’s road status report gives residents and visitors a place to check county-maintained routes before heading into mountain, desert and other remote areas.

The county’s current status source

The official Inyo County Road Open/Closed Status page displays an update timestamp of October 22, 2026, at 2:20 p.m. The county cautions readers that the date reflects the latest change to its road status information, and that detailed closure listings are available in accompanying documents linked on the page.

Conditions can change much faster than a web report is updated. A road shown as open on a previous list may be affected by a storm, accident, rockfall or emergency closure later. Drivers should not rely on an old downloaded list when conditions are uncertain.

Whom to contact

Inyo County directs callers with road concerns to Public Works Roads at 760-878-0212, Public Works at 760-878-0201 and Public Works LTC at 760-878-0202. State highways are separately managed, and drivers should consult Caltrans QuickMap for state route conditions.

This is particularly important for long journeys where mobile coverage, fuel and alternate routes may be limited. Travelers should check the specific road needed, not just the nearest town’s weather forecast, and never drive past an official closure sign.
