SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. — Drivers visiting Pinnacles National Park from the Hollister and Paicines area should watch for roadwork and loose gravel on the park’s entrance roads, according to a notice from the National Park Service.
Road work on both approaches
The park’s official road closures and maintenance update says intermittent work is continuing along both the east and west entrance roads. Park facilities are expected to remain open during the improvements, but equipment operating on or near the road may cause short delays. The agency says the work should be completed by mid-November, a projected timeline that may change.
NPS urges drivers to use caution because loose gravel can be present. Slow down near crews, leave extra space behind other vehicles and respect temporary traffic instructions.
Check conditions when planning the day
Motorists can review the park’s current conditions page for other issues, including fire danger, cave access and weather. The entrances are not connected by a road through the park, so visitors should confirm which side they intend to reach rather than assume they can drive across once inside.
For road maintenance questions, the park lists the Bear Gulch Visitor Center at 831-389-4485, extension 235. The information here describes a maintenance notice, not an assertion that an entrance is closed at this moment.
