SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — County emergency officials urge residents to sign up for ReadySiskiyou-Alerts so warnings about wildfire, severe weather, closures and evacuations can reach the right contact numbers before danger arrives.

Signing up for alerts

The county’s Emergency Preparedness Guide points to ReadySiskiyou, which is powered by Smart911. The system can deliver messages to a home phone, mobile phone, business line, text message or email, depending on the information residents enter. The guide recommends including a physical address so that users are not overwhelmed by alerts for distant areas, and selecting their preferred language where available.

Residents can follow the registration link from Ready Siskiyou’s official page or visit its Smart911 sign-up. When they move or change contact numbers, they should update their profile.

Check the evacuation map as well

The county advises every household to know its local evacuation zone and an alternative route before an emergency. ReadySiskiyou links to Genasys Protect for zone information. Communities such as Yreka, Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir, Weed, Etna and Happy Camp may face different localized hazards, making address-specific alerts particularly useful.

Do not wait for an electronic notification after observing immediate danger. Follow lawful evacuation orders and official instructions.
