RIVERSIDE COUNTY, California — November 4, 2026. Voters were favoring Measure A, the proposed renewal of the county’s existing half-cent transportation sales tax, in early returns from the November 3 general election. The initial yes vote exceeded the required two-thirds threshold, though final certification remains weeks away.

Unofficial early count

NBC Los Angeles’s Riverside County dashboard listed 205,257 yes votes (69.87%) and 88,517 no votes (30.13%). The proposal requires at least 66.67% support to pass, according to the measure’s ballot analysis. The share is above that mark at this snapshot, but could change when additional ballots are counted.

Would the county raise the current sales-tax rate?

No change to the existing 0.5% rate is proposed. The Riverside County Transportation Commission explains that Measure A would continue the existing transportation sales-tax authorization beyond 2039. Revenue would fund road maintenance, highway projects, safety improvements and public transit, subject to program rules and audits.

What can be expected financially?

The ballot description estimates roughly $280 million annually, but that is a projection of potential revenue, not money already collected or a commitment to a specific road project. The exact allocation of future funds will depend on the countywide transportation improvement plan and implementation decisions.

The measure covers incorporated communities across the county as well as unincorporated areas. Residents of Riverside, Corona, Moreno Valley, the Coachella Valley and smaller communities are affected by the same countywide ballot question, rather than having separate Measure A elections.

Count status: unofficial initial results, November 3–4, 2026. See the Riverside County Registrar of Voters for additional ballot batches. Do not interpret the early threshold as certification.
