SHASTA COUNTY, California — November 4, 2026. The race for Shasta County Board of Education features two seats in Area 1 and two more in Area 2; the second Area 1 seat remains closely contested.
What the early results show
In Shasta Scout’s 5:30 a.m. November 4 report, Bruce Ross leads Area 1 with 27.5% of candidate selections. Michelle Renee Tyson has 21.19%, closely followed by Nancy Walker with 20.9%, a difference of about 0.29 percentage points. In Area 2, Authur Gorman has 31.61%, Teresa Roberts 28.84% and Lisa Marie Barry 23.39%.
Why this matters locally
The Board of Education race is divided into two trustee areas, and two seats are available in each. Because the top two positions matter, the Area 1 contest cannot be summarized by only naming the candidate in first place. The small difference between Tyson and Walker does not establish who will take the second seat; officials must count and verify more ballots. These percentages are shares of candidate selections, not turnout.
Counting remains unfinished
Shasta County election officials experienced delays in the release of election-night results. The figures quoted above were available in reporting updated on November 4. Further vote-by-mail, precinct and other eligible ballots may be counted before certification. A media projection or interim lead is not the county’s certified outcome.
