Election-night reporting for all 58 counties

Choose a county to read California58’s current reporting status, county-specific release schedule where confirmed, and the method for verifying local contests and statewide returns. Times and vote tallies will be updated only from published election-authority records.

County and local results

Local election officials publish county, city and district returns and additional ballot counts. California58 is developing separate county reports for all 58 counties, with statewide figures alongside actual local races and measures when published. A community without its own municipal government does not elect a mayor of that community; it may vote in school, fire, water, county, state and federal contests depending on the precise address. We will not assign votes to a town from county-level totals without a documented precinct breakdown.

How numbers will be reported

Every published count must carry a named election authority, the race, candidate or proposition, the actual votes and percentages, the source timestamp, and a status of unofficial or certified. An election-night lead is not an official election result. A media projection will be attributed to the projecting organization, not described as certification. Where results are not yet available, the newsroom will state not yet reported rather than present a zero.
