SHASTA COUNTY, California — November 4, 2026. Measure E, a proposal to restrict one form of eminent domain in Shasta County’s charter, is drawing an early Yes majority.

What the early results show

Shasta Scout reported support of approximately 65.40% in an unofficial snapshot of more than 28,900 votes for the measure. KQMS rounded the Yes share to approximately 65%. These figures refer to a preliminary November 4 update, not a certified result.

Why this matters locally

The charter amendment concerns use of eminent domain where the intended purpose is to transfer acquired property to a private party. It does not abolish every power of eminent domain. Voters should read the complete official measure text for the precise scope and exceptions. A preliminary Yes majority is not confirmation that the legal changes have taken effect.

Counting remains unfinished

Shasta County election officials experienced delays in the release of election-night results. The figures quoted above were available in reporting updated on November 4. Further vote-by-mail, precinct and other eligible ballots may be counted before certification. A media projection or interim lead is not the county’s certified outcome.
