CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL ELECTIONS DESK — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. Solano County Measure H, a proposed increase in the tax on hotels and short-term lodging in the county’s unincorporated areas, has a sizeable preliminary No majority. County data report 69,202 No and 37,609 Yes votes, a 31,593-vote No lead among 106,811 recorded selections.
A lodging tax limited to unincorporated territory
The proposal would raise the local transient-occupancy tax from 5% to 12% on taxable hotel and short-stay accommodations outside incorporated city limits. Visitors staying for 30 days or less would generally be subject to the levy. Under the ballot description, the county anticipates approximately $58,500 in additional annual general-fund revenue if approved. It is not a universal residential property tax and does not automatically set the rates charged within city limits.
Why Measure H and Measure E should not be confused
Solano voters also considered Measure E, a separate business-tax proposal concerning large solar, wind and battery operations, gas extraction, and data centers. That question shows 66,985 No and 39,190 Yes in the same county batch. Read our current Measure E article. The ballot questions address different taxpayers and cannot be combined into a single percentage.
What happens after the first result
The No vote is about 64.8% of the reported valid selections on Measure H. That does not equal 64.8% of registered voters or of lodging guests; it is the share of those who cast a valid choice on this question. The county will certify after eligible ballots are checked and the legal canvass completed.
What source and timestamp mean
The Solano County results via KQED reflect the November 4, 2026, 7:40 p.m. Pacific county election report, reviewed on November 5. Future reports may add properly validated mail, provisional and other eligible votes. A reported precinct percentage does not equal final certification, and no result in this article is asserted as legally final. The Solano County Registrar of Voters publishes official county canvass updates; California’s statewide certification is scheduled for December 11.
Editorial note: preliminary results and election rules are reported independently of candidate endorsements. Source figures are dated to November 4, not a new November 5 county release.
