TRINITY COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — NOVEMBER 6, 2026. In a remarkably small ballot-measure electorate, Post Mountain Public Utilities District Measure D is separated by just one vote in Trinity County’s unofficial November 3 election results: 9 Yes (47.37%) and 10 No (52.63%). There were only 19 valid selections in the first report, plus two undervotes. A one-vote numerical lead is especially sensitive to any later valid ballot, but the result is not certified.
What voters were deciding
The district placed Measure D on the November ballot and the county’s current-election page provides both the district’s 2026-01 ordinance and Resolution 2026-02. These establish the proposed changes to district financing or governance. The complete text should be consulted to determine rates, exemptions and legal effects rather than inferring them from the letter D alone.
The danger of tiny-sample election headlines
With 19 valid selections, a single changed or added vote could materially alter the percentages. However, this does not prove an error or mandate a recount: county officials must first establish which ballots are legally eligible and complete their procedures. California58 does not assert that any candidate or ballot side has officially won.
An independent utility district
Post Mountain’s public utilities district is a distinct public agency with a much narrower electorate than Trinity County as a whole. Its Yes/No tally must not be reported as a preference among all Weaverville, Hayfork or Trinity County voters. The district’s own ordinance and board actions determine how any legally approved measure would operate.
Where to see the original paperwork
The Trinity elections page links the measure’s ordinance and resolution, and page 14 of the county results gives the 9-to-10 initial count. No later district-specific vote report is asserted in this article.
How the official canvass works
The Trinity County unofficial cumulative results are dated November 3, 2026, at 10:27 p.m., and list 16 of 16 precincts reporting. That is not the same as all valid mail, provisional and other ballots being processed. The county election official will complete the canvass and certify local contests; statewide election certification follows in December. The source date is stated to prevent the old batch being mistaken for a fresh November 6 count.
