TRINITY COUNTY — November 6, 2026. Two statewide California ballot propositions were separated by fewer than 60 votes in Trinity County’s first 2026 general-election report. On Proposition 38, No has 1,340 and Yes 1,301, a 39-vote No county lead. On Proposition 45, Yes leads 1,339 to 1,288, a 51-vote Yes county lead. Both figures appear in Trinity’s official November 3, 10:27 p.m. unofficial results PDF and are local subtotals, not statewide outcomes.
Different legal subjects, independently counted
Proposition 38 concerns immunology and immunotherapy research funding, while Proposition 45 concerns changes to environmental review for specified projects. The measures have distinct ballot texts, different valid-vote totals and may affect different aspects of state policy. A close Yes/No split on one does not imply a voter preferred the same option on the other.
Statewide questions cannot be decided by Trinity alone
Trinity’s 2,641 valid selections for Proposition 38 and 2,627 for Proposition 45 are only this county’s contribution to a statewide vote. Even if a later lawful Trinity ballot changes its local ordering, official adoption or rejection is determined by the aggregate votes across all of California. Check the Secretary of State statewide results separately.
Proposition 39: a third narrow county result
Proposition 39, concerning voter-identification and voter-registration rules, shows 1,373 Yes versus 1,305 No in the same Trinity report, a 68-vote Yes local lead. California58 has a separate Measure 39 explainer. Comparing these three county elections illustrates why each proposition must be independently reported and linked to the original ballot wording rather than described by an aggregate Yes percentage.
Certification and counting
The Trinity report states 2,768 ballots out of 7,652 registered voters and 16 of 16 precincts reporting, but is marked unofficial. Valid additional mail, provisional and eligible conditional votes may still be processed, and the county will complete the statutory canvass. All vote counts quoted here are the November 3 report; there is no claimed November 6 numerical update.
