SISKIYOU COUNTY, California — November 6, 2026. Siskiyou County’s second election-night update, reported at approximately 11:11 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, contained 11,250 ballots from 27,706 registered voters — preliminary turnout of 40.60%. All 62 precincts were reported in that batch, according to Siskiyou News’ source-backed election analysis. These are first-night numbers, not a new report generated November 6; the county has not legally certified the election.
Governor and other county-specific results
Republican Steve Hilton had 6,296 Siskiyou votes (56.46%) compared with Democrat Xavier Becerra’s 4,855 (43.54%), a 1,441-vote lead in the county. This local ranking differs from the statewide outcome projected by major news organizations. Siskiyou’s county preference must not be reported as a statewide result. For attorney general, Michael E. Gates held 6,270 county votes versus Rob Bonta’s 4,802; for secretary of state, Don Wagner had 6,102 against Shirley Weber’s 4,951 in the same batch.
Congressional District 2: Littau ahead in county subtotal
In Siskiyou’s portion of U.S. House District 2, Robin Littau recorded 5,994 votes versus Jared Huffman’s 4,960. Littau’s local county lead is 1,034 votes, but the congressional district includes other counties where voters may rank candidates differently. The districtwide result must be drawn from all counties; reporting one county’s results as a House race call would be inaccurate.
County superintendent of schools
For the local countywide education office, incumbent Allan S. Carver had 4,898 votes, and Mark Greenfield 4,322 — a 576-vote reported lead. This is a separate election from the school district boards in towns throughout Siskiyou. Read California58’s superintendent election article.
New reports for individual cities
Our local editions separately examine Yreka Measure G, Mount Shasta Measure H, the Mount Shasta Union school bond and Weed Measure K. These are different tax bases, jurisdictions, legal approval thresholds and electorates. Countywide turnout cannot be assigned to each city as local election turnout.
Why counting can continue after all precincts report
Reporting a precinct means election-night returns from that reporting group were received, not that every legally valid mail or provisional ballot has been processed. The Siskiyou County Registrar is responsible for future updates and the final county canvass. Voters should compare later releases with the stated November 3 cutoff rather than assume today’s publication is a fresh count.
