CALIFORNIA — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. New Caltrans traffic advisories outline maintenance and safety work on six routes in Central, Eastern and Coastal California for the coming days. Some projects begin Friday, November 6, while others are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of the following week. Drivers should distinguish planned one-way traffic controls and intermittent breaks from complete road closures; the agency can change work windows for weather, staffing and incidents.
Central Coast: Highway 154 wildfire prevention
Santa Barbara County Highway 154: Starting Friday November 6, crews plan to remove brush along roughly 40 miles of the route. One-way traffic control is scheduled weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with delays up to 15 minutes. Work may continue through January 8, 2027, according to Caltrans District 5.
Eastern Kern: Ridgecrest/China Lake paving
State Route 178 near Sandquist Road: Asphalt work is planned on assigned workdays during the November 9–13 period, with a general 6 a.m.–6 p.m. window. Caltrans warns of brief delays. The area is associated with the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake; normal base-access restrictions remain in place.
Mono County: Mammoth Lakes and June Lake
Mammoth Lakes SR-203: One-way traffic control is planned Monday November 9 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. between Mammoth Scenic Loop Road and Forest Trail Road, with possible ten-minute delays.
June Lake SR-158: Pole-replacement work is scheduled Monday and Tuesday, November 9–10, 8 a.m.–4 p.m., from Lakeview Drive to U.S. 395. The agency expects intermittent traffic breaks, with delays of around five minutes.
Inyo County: Keeler
State Route 136 near Keeler: Caltrans lists intermittent traffic breaks Monday November 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between the western end of Dolomite Loop Road and SR-190, with approximately five-minute delays. Full-day highway closure has not been announced in the cited notice.
Northern Santa Cruz County: Highway 1 coastal slope work
Waddell Bluffs near Davenport: Caltrans reports weekday one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. between post miles 36.3 and 37.5. The north side of the bluff project is complete; the south side is about halfway finished. Work is expected to continue toward year-end, with possible ten-minute delays.
Veterans Day and real-time changes
Caltrans District 9 specifically states that no state highway work is planned Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans Day in its weekly listing. This does not guarantee that all roads will be free of unrelated incidents. Check Caltrans QuickMap immediately before traveling. These reports describe construction schedules and are not confirmations that a lane is presently closed.
