SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES COUNTY — OCTOBER 18, 2026. Organizers of a holiday youth boxing event have contacted California58 to share details of a free community gathering scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 2026, in Sylmar. According to a media advisory sent to our newsroom by Ring of Hope Youth Development, the event will bring together 60 young boxers for 30 bouts, with every participant receiving a prize.
What California58 learned from the organizers
In an October 17 media advisory and invitation provided directly to California58, the Los Angeles nonprofit said its holiday Kids Boxing Match will feature athletes ages 8–16 from boxing clubs across Los Angeles. The bouts are planned under USA Boxing rules. The organization is co-hosting the event with Eastern Block Boxing and Hamo’s California Boxing Club.
“Every child who fights goes home with a prize,” the organizers stated in their announcement. The event is presented as an opportunity for young athletes to showcase their training and for families to celebrate their efforts together.

A youth program built around access to boxing
Ring of Hope Youth Development describes itself as a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers free boxing classes for children. In its media materials, the organization says its regular classes serve children ages 6–14, while the December competition is planned for participants ages 8–16.
Organizers say the program aims to provide a safe place for children to train, develop discipline and connect with positive activities. These descriptions are from the organization’s announcement; California58 has not independently evaluated the program or confirmed the final participant roster.
Interviews in four languages
The organizers told California58 that interview opportunities are expected to be available in English, Spanish, Russian and Armenian. Their invitation also welcomes news outlets to cover the opening ceremony, boxing matches and awards.
Media representatives have been asked to RSVP by December 1, 2026 if they need a reserved camera position or interview arrangements. That deadline applies to press coordination, not general admission.
