PLACER COUNTY — October 28, 2026. Students from kindergarten through 12th grade who attend school in Placer County have only a few days left to enter the local Air Pollution Control District’s annual Air Art Calendar Contest. The competition closes October 31, 2026, and selected drawings will appear in the district’s 2027 calendar.
Theme, eligibility and prizes
This year’s theme is “Clean Air for Everyone.” The district invites original artwork showing what clean air means to students or how communities can protect it. The contest is open to K–12 students who attend school in Placer County, with one submission per student and no entry fee.
First-, second- and third-place prizes are awarded by grade level: $50, $30 and $20, respectively. The district plans to feature first-place artwork from each grade in its 2027 calendar. Eligible students who enter will also receive a copy of the calendar. Teachers associated with first-place winners are eligible for a $50 classroom supply stipend.
How to prepare the drawing
The district asks students to use an 8.5-by-11-inch sheet in landscape orientation. Entries should be flat and suitable for reproduction, using art materials such as markers, colored pencils, crayons or paint. The guidelines prohibit folded or three-dimensional work, copyright-protected characters, commercial logos, violent content and inappropriate imagery.
The artwork must be original, and students must include the completed entry form. Bilingual clean-air messaging is welcome, including English and Spanish.
Where and when to send entries
Families can find the current entry form and online submission link at PlacerAir.org — Air Art Calendar Contest. Physical submissions may be delivered or mailed to the Placer County Air Pollution Control District, 110 Maple Street, Auburn, CA 95603.
The district says mailed entries must be received or postmarked by October 31. Because online submission requirements and files may differ, use the district’s official form and instructions rather than sending an unregistered photo without the entry information.
Winners are expected to be notified in January 2027, with recognition planned in February.
