AMADOR COUNTY, Calif. — A trip to certain California State Parks sites may be more affordable for local library patrons: the Amador County Library advertises a program through which users can borrow a free vehicle day-use pass for participating parks.
Where to start
The county’s official Library page tells patrons to visit their local public library to learn about the California State Library Parks Pass Program. The main branch is at 530 Sutter Street, Jackson, with listed weekday hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its telephone number is 209-223-6400.
The wider county system also serves communities including Ione, Pine Grove, Pioneer and Plymouth. A county page about Friends of the Library identifies those branches and the group’s work supporting local library services.
Check availability and park eligibility
Passes are for select participating state parks, not an unrestricted ticket to every fee-based recreation area. Borrowing periods, library availability and park exclusions should be checked directly with the library before making a long trip. A pass does not waive every possible camping, reservation or special-event fee.
Beyond the pass program, residents can ask library staff about the catalog, branch services and other available resources. For families planning a low-cost outing, the most reliable sequence is to check that a pass can be borrowed, confirm that the destination accepts it, and then review weather and road conditions.
