EL DORADO COUNTY — November 4, 2026, 12:00 a.m. Pacific election-night update. Voters in El Dorado County gave a substantial early No majority to Measure S, a proposal for a dedicated emergency-services sales tax.

Reported preliminary totals

The final election-night report has No 40,843 votes and Yes 20,449, or approximately 66.64% No and 33.36% Yes. The earlier 8 p.m. numbers were 37,844 No and 19,008 Yes.

What the result means locally

Measure S asks whether to authorize an additional 0.375-percentage-point sales tax for 30 years dedicated to emergency services such as hospital facilities, fire protection, prevention and 911 response. A preliminary No lead does not constitute county certification or immediate legal rejection of the proposal.

Why this is not final

South Tahoe Now published the updated figures from El Dorado County’s final election-night vote-center tally at approximately midnight after the November 3 election. The county’s election office says remaining ballot-by-mail submissions and other valid ballots will be counted in further twice-weekly updates. These are unofficial election-night results, not a newly verified November 5 canvass report or a certified outcome. El Dorado County’s county certification deadline is December 3, 2026.
