GILROY, Santa Clara County — October 27, 2026. Residents and businesses seeking an overview of proposed construction in Gilroy can now compare the city’s development pipeline using an official project inventory dated September 24, 2026. The list includes residential development, commercial projects and industrial proposals, among them a data center associated with Amazon Web Services.
What is in the city’s list?
Gilroy’s Planning Division identifies housing projects such as Monterey Family Apartments, Glen Loma Ranch, a proposed Transit Plaza mixed-use site at 7050 Monterey Street, Royal Way Townhomes and other proposals. Industrial and commercial entries include a Gilroy Data Center (by Amazon Web Services), a California Sports Center project and several properties along Yamane Drive and Las Animas Avenue.
The city specifically labels its published inventory as containing projects currently under review or entitled. Those are different procedural statuses. Being named in a planning log does not prove that a company has obtained all permits, begun construction or hired workers. Neither does it establish the final number of housing units or the resource use of a particular building.
What should residents ask about the data center?
Large computing facilities can differ substantially in electricity consumption, water-cooling strategy, emergency backup power, noise, utility upgrades and job creation. Relevant facts require a site-specific application and environmental documents. Residents can request the project file, zoning decisions, conditions of approval, permit status and construction schedule before relying on claims about tax revenue or environmental effects.
What about housing affordability?
The presence of an apartment project in the pipeline does not establish that its homes are priced below market or available for applications now. Check the developer’s approved affordability conditions, state funding agreements and any official leasing notice before submitting personal information to third parties.
For public inquiries, the city lists the Planning Division at 408-846-0440 and planningdivision@cityofgilroy.org. A published project inventory helps residents track change, but it is not itself the final zoning law or occupancy permit.
