KERN COUNTY — November 4, 2026. As Thanksgiving approaches on November 26, Kern County households looking for food assistance can use Community Action Partnership of Kern’s food bank directory and 211 services. The information may be particularly useful for residents outside Bakersfield, where a trip to the wrong site could mean substantial extra driving.

Use CAPK’s food distribution map

The CAPK Food Bank page offers a food map with filters for nearby programs and distribution schedules. CAPK says the Wonderful Community Food Center network reaches more than 200 access points across Kern County. Residents should click each individual listing to see the relevant hours and program information instead of assuming all sites follow the same schedule.

Phone assistance is available

CAPK’s 211 food assistance page identifies resources for food distributions, meals, CalFresh, WIC, pantries and related programs. Calling 211 is another way to ask about providers serving a particular community.

Holiday schedules may change

The published resource directory is not a promise that a distribution site will operate on Thanksgiving Day. Call the selected pantry before setting out, especially during the holiday week. Residents in Ridgecrest, Inyokern, eastern Kern and other rural areas should check the actual address and service hours, not just the organization’s headquarters.
