SUSANVILLE, Calif. — Lassen County residents seeking local government records now have an online portal designed for submitting and tracking public records requests, according to a July 15, 2026 announcement from county officials.

What changed

The county said it partnered with CivicPlus to deploy NextRequest, a web-based records-management system. In its official announcement, the county explained that the platform aims to simplify submissions, automate some of the internal workflow and make it easier to follow the progress of a request across departments.

How to use it

Residents can visit the Lassen County NextRequest portal or follow the link from the county’s official website. A useful records request clearly describes the material sought, relevant dates or departments, and how the records relate to a specific event or decision. Narrowly focused requests may be easier for staff to identify than broad demands with no date range.

The portal is a way to request and track information; its launch does not guarantee that every requested record is disclosable or available immediately. California’s public records rules and applicable exemptions still govern what an agency may release. Residents should follow the county’s instructions for questions about a request or its status.
